Ora Organic

I am not the type of vegan who worries about my protein intake. If you do any actual research on the topic, you will know that unless you are starving or completely malnourished its nearly impossible for you to be protein deficient. But I am a big fan of protein powders. I feel like we need to rename them, because when I hear “protein powder,” I still see a yolked out dude with creepy veins popping up all over the place. But, these supplement powders are very useful for everyday life! If you follow me on instagram, then you know I love myself a smoothie. I usually start my day with a smoothie, because liquids are easy to digest first thing and extend the intermittent fasting benefits from the previous night. I pack my smoothies with fresh fruit and veggies, and always include a supplement or superfood powder. It’s the easiest way to get in some packed nutrients! I love barley grass juice powder, chlorella, spirulina, maca… the list goes on and on! I also love adding protein powders into the mix. Not only do they add tons of nutrients, but they help to keep you full. But this is where you need to be careful – there has been a huge surge in the plant based protein world, so you need to do your homework and make sure that the companies you’re purchasing from have good, clean, quality ingredients. I have tried SO many protein powders, and I can honestly say Ora is my all time favorite. One serving of the So Lean and So Clean powder contains 21g of protein (1 g of sugar – something to watch out for), a complete amino acid profile and 2 servings of organic greens! Aaaaand it tastes like chocolate milk. I am obsessed with the flavor! My favorite way to use it is in a smoothie with almond milk, frozen banana, ceylon cinnamon and a couple medjool dates. I’ve mixed it in with coffee drinks, or simply shaken it up with non-dairy milk in a blender bottle. It’s always delicious.

Another reason to love this company? They love the environment and care about sustainability! Not only do they say they care, but they are actually doing something about it! They’re packaging is gorgeous, the names are clever (way better than whey!) but also are coming up with some really innovative ways to create sustainable products. When I met some of their team at Expo West, they showed me boxes for their Nothing Fishy Here spray, made out of seed paper that could be planted in the ground! I could not feel better about supporting a brand that cares what they sell, the people they sell it to, and the planet that we share!

I really would love for you to give it a try, I promise you won’t regret it! If you currently use a protein powder, do some research and make sure that it’s a good one.
